2 Inter-Livery Pancake Race, the City
The Inter-Livery Pancake Race takes place on 5 March, with the Mansion House, Guildhall, Old Bailey and City Livery Company of Poulters competing in fancy dress for a commemorative frying pan. The annual Shrove Tuesday race conjures quite the atmosphere, with plenty of pomp and ceremony to cajole us all into spirits high enough to help raise money for the Lord Mayor’s Charity. 5 Where the Pancakes Are, Southwark
There’s no messing around on Shrove Tuesday at Where the Pancakes Are. Well actually, there will be, with a three-legged Pancake Day race! Make your way down there between 6pm and 8pm for lemon bobbing and a three-legged race (starting at 7.30pm) where you’ll have to flip pancakes while you run to the finish line. Cocktails are being served to settle pre-race nerves and there will be prizes for the winners. No need to book – just turn up with trainers and a willing partner. Oh and there’s also a Pancake Day pop-up in Flat Iron Square’s Après chalet serving pancakes galore.

Sadly, Rehab has decided to cancel its annual Parliamentary Pancake Race, which was originally planned for Shrove Tuesday, due to the intense focus on Brexit and the demands of Parliamentarians and the media (more here).
