1 Double Space for BMW – Precision & Poetry in Motion

Mirrors, suspension and spatial perception? In collaboration with BMW, designers Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby have created this remarkable work in the V&A Raphae lGallery (pictured above). Through choreographed movement and design, this giant reflective installation utilizes its environment to create a truly stunning artistic experience, giving viewers new outlook on an old space. Come join world class stone specialists Lapicida for an evening of glamour and cutting edge design. 3  Christopher Guy Showroom Opening

Exclusively for The London Design Festival 2014, international luxury furnishing company Christopher Guy opens the doors to its new landmark showroom. 4  Meet the bike builders: Brompton Bicycle

Learn the tricks and trades of bicycle making at the Brompton Bicycle showcase. In a uniting of leaders and beginners, The Wish List invites ten design legends along with ten emerging talents, to commission and create something they have always desired but never been able to find. This unique role-reversal of sorts puts each new designer at the whim of a respective veteran in a fun celebration of craftsmanship and sustainability in the design world. September 15 – 3:30pm to 4:30pm; Victoria and Albert Museum, Cromwell Road, SW7 2RL


Celebrating its collaboration with Oasiq, the Gabbertas Studio hosts a display of exterior furniture at The Chelsea Gardener store. This is the first time the studio’s work for Oasiq has been seen in the UK, and the impressive collection is the culmination of three years’ development and design. 7  The Mighty Pen: Joy Parade + Dinner & Dreams workshops ft. guest artists & Animaux Circus

The Concept Lounge becomes a hub of creativity as The Mighty Pen event brings a full weekend of activity and design.  Join illustrators at workshops and live drawing in the mural room, add your own artwork to the Joy Parade or take part in the Dinner & Dreams workshops. 8  Candela

Designed as a collaborative effort from a multi-disciplinary team of designers, Candela is an immersive and dynamic installation set within the darkness of the V&A Tapestry Gallery. Combining light patterns, movement and a machine of 60 armatures, this display is a unique experience that shouldn’t be missed. September 13 to 21 from 10am to 5:45pm; Victoria and Albert Museum, Cromwell Road, SW7 2RL

9  Typetasting with Sarah Hyndman

Learn more about typeface and become a human ‘lab rat’ with graphic designer Sarah Hyndman’s interactive and demonstrative talk. After learning about the influence of typeface on what we read, the audience is invited to participate in the unique Human Experiment: Sarah’s ongoing research into typeface associations. September 14 – 2pm to 3:30pm; Victoria and Albert Museum, Cromwell Road, SW7 2RL

10  Harrods Is Design

In its first ever London Design Festival showing, Harrods gives you the chance to walk the in-store ‘design trail’. Showcasing the store’s Home department, this tour will take you on a journey through global launches from names such as YOO Home, Savoir, Roche Bobis and more. September 13 to 21 – 10am to 8pm; Harrods, 87-135 Brompton Road, SW1X 7XL
